I’m starting quite a few new series posts this month, so I thought I would add another one in too- my monthly playlist is going to be my four favourite songs of the month. I love listening to music and if you ask me, I spend way too much money downloading new songs from iTunes. This month I’ve taken a real different approach to my usual taste in music.
‘Experience’ by Virtuosi Italiani & Daniel Hope
Normally I can’t stand classical music, I absolutely hate it. But the song ‘Experience’ is actually not only had 99p spent on it, but it also made it into my top songs of the month! It’s one of those songs that is really calming and helps you to focus, I put it on if I need to do some less intense work, it seems to set my mind to it.
‘Royals’ by Lorde
“And we’ll never be royals…” Gosh, I seriously am in love with this song. It’s literally been on repeat this month, it’s the whole reason I’ve had trouble with my iTunes too- I was desperate to download it and couldn’t wait for it to be sorted out. Before I read into it I didn’t realise that Lorde is over sixteen, she is also the youngest person in the Billboard top 100 in 26years, you’ve got to admit that’s pretty impressive? I had no idea that there has been so many differing in options over the song either.
‘Salvation’ by Gabrielle Aplin
We all heard and fell in love with Gabrielle Aplin’s voice when she was the voice behind the John Lewis 2012 Christmas Advert. One year on and I’ve found another song of hers I love as well, Salvation has the same angel-esque we heard before but in a completely different way, I’m sure I got this song for free with Starbucks a while back as part of their ‘song of a week’ so thank you Starbucks for introducing this song to me!
‘A Thousand Years’ by Christina Perri
I mentioned I loved this song in yesterday’s post, A Thousand Years is a truly lovely song, it’s meaningful and well scripted, I really don’t like music where only five words are used, but this is the complete opposite. It’s similar to my classical choice in the sense it’s a really calming song, I know I can put it on and not be distracted like I am with other songs.
Ultimately, this month I’m sure the songs are a lot less upbeat than my normal choice of The Vamps to Olly Murs (by the way, the vamps came a close fifth place for my playlist) but I’m sure next month I will have another completely different taste, only time (and my iTunes balance) will tell!
“I’ve loved you for a thousand years”🎶
